I am headed off to London today for a work trip for the week. I’ve flown through Heathrow before, but this will be my first time actually stepping foot in London.
Unfortunately, “work trip” means not a whole lot of sightseeing, so odds are very much against visiting anything cool during working hours (aka when the sun is still up this time of year) and quite poor for catching a yarn store open (I looked – nothing close enough to pop into during lunch, sorry!).
But! You do get to see what projects I’m taking. If you are not a crafter, you’d probably say that this:
is too much. I would argue differently. First, there is only one spindle with just a single ounce of fiber (Mohair!); I am being realistic that most of my craft time will be on planes or while sitting (I’m a standing kind of spindle spinner). Yes, there are three different knitting projects, but one could be finished while I’m traveling (the mobius in progress), the green lace is my “thinking” knitting which requires concentration and the mohair/alpaca goodness replaces the mobius as the “easy” project that I can do while carrying on a conversation. Also, it’s good for squishing and petting.
All of them have very non-scary wood circulars (good for security and carry-ons – I’m not checking any luggage) and all together my projects weigh in at an extremely reasonable 1lb 2oz including the needles and bags. Yes, I really did weigh them.
When a crafters’ clothing outweighs her craft supplies, she’s doing well.
