Countdown

It’s New Year’s Eve, so we’re counting the hours now until the midnight. In Germany, fireworks are legal (if you’re not from the states – know that they are various levels of legal/illegal in each state for amatures and many states greatly restrict them) and the celebrations began as soon as it was fully dark. Remember, that’s by 16:30pm, so we’re going on three hours of constant pops, cracks, fizzes and the like. A few are high enough to see on occasion from our window. According to TheEnabler, it sounds like a “badly organized battlefield.”

There are four more hours to go. We’re also both under the weather, so yeah, this is going to be a fun New Years’ Eve. I’m sure I’ll be ready to sleep by 22:30, but I’m not sure that’ll be possible. I also don’t count on it stopping at midnight (to be fair, we were warned about this and it was suggested not to count on sleep. We weren’t, but we weren’t expecting to get slammed by nasty head colds either).

My only defense: knit for my sanity. Here is my other countdown – I’ve only got a few more rows of the green monster to go.

And I’m getting a little worried about yarn… It looked like there was tons left when I embarked on the edging, but there’s, well, there’s not tons anymore. Not sure where it went.

Green Monster - final stretch

We’ll see if I just have to suck it up and (gasp) end a couple rows early. Since I’m feeling pretty done with this one, not sure I’ll be shedding lots of tears. I am doing a little weigh and check though so I can start casting off early if need be.

Also – a giant alpaca silk shawl in progress is a great way to keep your lap toasty. No complaints there.
