Catch up

I took advantage of some of the sunlight we had over the weekend to get some pictures of projects finished a little while ago (also, it’s still light at 4:30pm which is AWESOME).

Some socks look great on and off feet, but the more ribbing or lace, the more I think you need to see them on to appreciate how they look. The Latvian Socks, with lace and ribbing, is one of those. So, I give you TheEnabler’s Luck Dragon Socks, on his feet:

As usual, Unplanned Peacock Sock yarns look fabulous even after a few wearings and washings: I’m pretty sure TheEnabler has worn these about half a dozen times already, walking to and from work in boots.

Two weekends ago, I was able to block my Frozen Leaves

But then the sun disppeared again, and I couldn’t get any good pics. This weekend, the sun graced us with its presence again, and I snapped these pics:

Frozen Leaves - finished

TheEnabler has noted that it looks less like camo when you see the color in natural light and now that it’s blocked (he also admits a little hypocrisy in that one of his favorite tops is the exact same color and he was wearing it while dissing my shawl).

The Rooster Delightful Lace yarn it was made of blocked really nicely for alpaca/silk, given that neither of those has the amount of memory of wool: the points have held well after pulling out the pins (I’m also not a super agressive blocker). I could probably have knit it at a slightly tighter gauge, as it’s a little on the airy side. The silk in the yarn wins out and it’s not something that “blooms” when blocked – what you see is what you get. That said, the silk gives it a really lovely shine in sunlight and the alpaca adds a buttery softness that silk alone doesn’t have.

Now it just has to wait around until I figure how what to do with it. It’s not for me, I’ve known that since I started and my mind hasn’t changed.* So it’s going in a small stash of projects whose owners I’ll discover later.

*I’ve made other things stating “this isn’t for me” before and they totally ended up for me, like this shawl I crocheted a while back.
