This weekend was gorgeous – sunshine, mild temperatures, slight breeze instead of a wicked fast wind. Which was great since I had a bunch of errands to run Saturday and it meant kitten and I could do a little walk Sunday (she rides in her cat carrier backpack).
Today, we pay the price. It’s grey, rainy and cold. The sort of damp chill that makes you want to go back to bed (sadly, work says this is not an option). Since snuggling back into bed in my pjs isn’t on the table, the next best option is warm soft daytime clothing.
Enter, my alpaca dress, which I knitted a few years ago now. As you might guess, at 100% alpaca, it’s warm and soft. Paired with leggings, it’s a great rainy icky weather option.
It’s also, I think, an example of how you can mix “fancy” with “comfortable”. If you look at the original pattern, Little Red Dress, it’s pretty clear this is meant to be a nice addition to your wardrobe – sexy even since it’s form fitting. Even the name, combining the idea of a red dress (often seen as sexy) with a nod to the “little black dress” (also sexy).
Yet, because of it’s stretchy construction, it’s super comfortable. So, I’m going to sit around the house on this rainy day working from home where nobody but the cat can see me in my alpaca dress. Warm and comfy.
