Saturday knitting

I’m making some more headway on my Damask Cowl and I think I’m in the final stretch with just another half a repeat to go.

Nearly finished damask cowl

I’m still really enjoying working the brioche colorwork. It’s a lot of fun to have a “row” with the pattern followed by a rest “row” in the constrast color, rather like in many lace shawl patterns, but to get something so completely different. It’s also going to be so soft and squishy! Bet kitten will like this one. She’s shown a clear interest in extra snuggles when I’m wearing my softest squishiest shawls and sweaters.

Kitten knitting update:

First, she’s more comfortable in general in our home, so she’s not keeping tabs on us every waking moment. This means she’ll happily play with her toys while I knit.

I think she’s also starting to get the idea that knitting isn’t a toy – it disappears as soon as she starts to play with it, so there is little incentive to start playing (though, moving string still has a certain irresistable quality – I’m not expecting miracles).

Lastly, you can get a really great quiet few hours of knitting if kitten is nice and tired after a long “walk” in the park. We have a kitty carrier backpack she rides in and periodically let her out on a leash to explore a bit of the path.
