Compared to some people, I haven’t had a whole lot of babies in my life. Friends either haven’t started families yet, or I met them when their children were past the baby stage. So I didn’t really know how much I’d enjoy knitting baby things. I mean, I could only say I wasn’t somebody who was so intrigued by little garments that they make them and stash them in hopes of little bodies to put them on.
But in the past year or so, babies have started appearing more among my friend groups. And, I can safely say, baby things aren’t what make me tick. AwesomeE, my oldest and best friend, has exactly one baby garment from me. Sure, being on the other side of the ocean makes gifting trickier, but I’m hardly heading to the US at the end of the week with a suitcase of things for her little one (er… nothing actually. Not a single product of my love for the poor tyke).
This isn’t to say I can’t make baby things, so behold:
Baby Surprise #4 – this little jacket seems to hit a happy spot of quick, fun, cleverly constructed, and requiring buttons. Finding cute baby buttons actually does capture my interest. So yeah, I just keep making more Baby Surprise jackets in new color combos. TheEnabler helps with yarn and button selection. So when it was clear there was another baby in need of something, this was the jacket I turned to.
Also, the first chocolate sheep has been led to the slaughter:
I started with one of the white ones because I like milk and dark chocolate better.
Do you have any go to baby things you make?
