Tour de Fleece 2019

This year I made an effort to prepare for Tour de Fleece. By which I mean I got it together enough to join a team on Ravlery: Team Spindlers 2019. It made sense to me since it means my team mates are fellow spindlers.

Yet again, I realized this was a good opportunity to get it together and do a bit of plying. I’ve been working on a deep red mohair top since last year. Ironically, I started on it in the Netherlands, and I may be finishing it up in Amsterdam a year later.

Left side shows creation of plying balls of red mohair singles, and right shows a first cop of plied yarn on a bottom whorl

I have also been working on singles to become the three ply for TheEnabler’s brioche scarf. I’m trying to make some decent progress so that he might actually get the scarf one day.

Left to right - cop of single, spindle with new cop started and small braid of top, all of pale rainbow Falkland merino

I really really love looking at the colors of this yarn over the course of the day in different lights. I know I’ve said that before, but it’s still true. Originally, we were thinking about getting a deep indigo as the contrast color for the brioche, but I’m starting to lean towards the idea of a deep plum purple instead.

Are you participating in Tour de Fleece? How’s it going?
