I’m making some pretty decent progress on my Melaine cardigan. I’ve finished the entire body, including button bands and i-cord edging. The instructions tell you to bind off the bottom, then do the sleeves before returning to the button bands (pretty standard order). But I chose to go ahead with the button bands first because that way I could keep a continuous piece of yarn for the i-cord all the way around and I didn’t want to leave one ball attached to the bottom end for the entire time I worked the sleeves.
So voila, I have most of a cardigan:
Obviously, sleeves are no trivial matter, but at least each is partially complete already because the sleeve cap was knit with the body before dividing.
I’m going to alter it to have full length sleeves instead of 3/4 because while I frequently push sleeves up, I would miss the full length sleeve sorely when wearing this under a cape or poncho. This means I’ll also need to make furthe adjustments to decrease the sleeve to the size of my wrist, not upper forearm.
Sadly, this is one of those projects I like so much that the knitting would go faster if I didn’t stop so often to admire the color of the yarn.
