I had three blog posts in one week, and then suddenly I check in and realize it’s been over a week again.
But, I have some crafting updates to make up for it.
First, I’ve fnished a cop of singles towards the 2nd skein of yarn in this colorway:
I also started swatching for a new top. Yarn is Beezigns B’Luxor, which I picked up a while back in Lexington, VA. Based on the small number of Ravelry stashes, it appears to be a pretty obscure yarn, even by indie dyer standards. It’s alpaca, silk and linen: so drape galore.
I’m planning on using the pattern Twisted Lines and figure the cables, twisted stiches and shaping will give it form. I had a moment of doubt about the color when I realized I have no shirts in either that sort of blue or purple. Then I remembered I’ve had dresses in exactly those shades and it’ll look fab on me.
Next up: my Shetland Wool Week hat is complete! Washed, blocked, ends woven in and trimmed.
The swirly star on the top is straight up my favorite part about the hat. The sheep and boats are cute and all, but the decrease pattern is something I might incorporate in future hats. It was also a lot of fun to use up some leftover yarn from an earlier project.
Lastly, I’ve made some good progress on my Dionne shawl for the #bipocmal2019.
Now that I’ve pretty much memorized the pattern, I can take it with me on public transit as a travel project.
It’ll come with me to Shetland along with a couple skeins sock yarn and a few ounces of roving for spinning. I want to keep room for purchases, so I’m planning on keeping my projects small but time consuming (like socks and fingering weight lace shawls).
Given all I need to do to get ready (packing, wrapping up some work stuff, tidying the house, laundry and more), I suspect the next blog post will be from Scotland or Shetland…
I was going to include a fluffy kitty pic to make up for the time between posts, but she’s been in full on zoomie mode as I write this. She yowls until I look or move her way, then dashes about, careening off of furniture until she hides for a few seconds, then repeat. Hilarious, but not great for capturing a photo. Seriously, for a silent killer, she is making a ton of noise right now.
But it should leave her nice and tired for bed time, which isn’t far off.
