I’m sitting in the airport ready to start my trip to Shetland, so I have a bit of time to give an update.
Earlier this week, I completed the critical task of project selection. I’m gone for over a week, and feeling really really restrained because I only packed two knitting projects and two spinning projects.
I only have half a sock left, but actually the plane flights on this trip are short and most travel is by ferry, train or bus. So, the red socks are dedicated plane knitting so I don’t get through them too quickly while the Dionne Shawl went into checked luggage because I don’t want to risk that today is the day they don’t allow metal needles.
If I’m honest with myself, the shawl really does have enough to hold me – I’m not even half way done.
Also, I plan to try to make some real progress on spinning, so fewer knitting projects will help me meet this goal. The light multi color is fantastic to spin, but I also brought along the teal to work on something a bit thicker so that my hands are doing one thing all the time.
Extra spindles are to bring to classes and demos so I have something to do little test and sample spins on without impacting my yarns in progress.
And worst comes to worst and I actually finish all this… I will be in the land of wool. I’m pretty sure a solution will reveal itself.
