Sooo many tangles

I made a little more progress on my Arequita tunic. The front is now only a little bit shorter than the back and once I finish the decreases on the front, I’ll be able to knit the front and back at exactly the same measurements throughout the remainder of the tunic. I’ll be past all the “bumpy” bits, metaphorically and literally!

On the left is a partially finished front to a tunic in wool/linen blend yarn. The main color is a dusty rose with lace insert at the neck and color blocks at the waist in a dark grey-purple. On the right is the matching back of the tunic, slightly further along.

I’m really happy with how the intarsia color blocks are turning out. The ones on the front in particular further hide the slant of the decreases and the short rows because the strong line of the color block draws all the attention. I made sure that the dark purple-grey started in exactly the same point on front and back so that it will match up when I sew them together.

Drawback to my plans? I am working with three skeins/balls of yarn per piece at the same time. Soooo many tangles in my bag, only made worse by the yarn ends from the earlier lace panel which grab the working yarns.

Also, my July Clan of Igor yarn arrive and it’s gorgeous. However, since Undercover Otter hasn’t revealed it yet, I won’t spoil the surprise except to say it’s not purple. So I’ll have to use a fingering and either adapt the bandana pattern or hold it double.

Instead, I’ll show you June, as I forgot to post that back in June:

Two skeins of Undercover Otter DK weight yarn in the Clan of Igor June 2020 colorway “Brundlefly” – a mix of greens, yellows and black.

The green mix is as delightfully poisonous as you would expect of a yarn inspired by a fly-themed horror film.
