Why start easy?

Late last week I did finally get to have a go at one of the Knit Stars classes. I opted to start with the modular knitting by Tina Tse. It seemed like I could dive right in, and that the nature of the project would be conducive to knitting while attending a virtual work event this week (which is Pacific time… joy).

Instead of the top which is the course pattern, I’ve opted to do a free form blanket with some bright colors of yarn. My plan is to place it at the bottom corner of the bed where the kitties sleep so that it protects our blankets from as much car fur build up. And that way I don’t need to fret too much about perfection.

Even so, this is attempt #2 as attempt #1 had a far too squat octagon (why start simple?) and some truly horrendous abuses of geometry on my part.

Since Pippin is committed to stealing the yarn whenever possible… I think he’ll like it?

    1. ok, maybe I exaggerate a little? But I was trying to treat an octagon more like a hexagon and surrounding it with shapes which were NOT going to lie flat.
