Friday Flash Post

Just a quick post tonight before I hop on our Friday night family Zoom call:

I’ve picked my “Oppositional” top back up and I’ve finished the central blue/green reverse stockinette section. I did some short rows and some gentle decreases towards the waist after the bust – not super form fitting, but just a little. I’ll do a few more increases in the “skirt” of the top than are called for to make up for it:

I’m happy every time I look at the colors in this top, so that seems like a good sign for enjoying wearing it. I think it will look great thrown over my various brightly hued tank tops in spring and fall (or on cooler summer nights).

I also received some mail. First up, the stickers I ordered arrived and are basically as expected. I haven’t quite decided if it’s one of each, or just one that I’ll put on my laptop:

Stickers: “The original fidget spinner” next to a drop spindle and a gray dragon on a pile of yarn

I also did a little online shopping at Undercover Otter last weekend, which arrived today. My purchase from Stephen & Penelope is still en route, but I’ll show you what I’ve got so far:

Three skeins of Undercover Otter yarn: Dark Skies (purple) on Squirm, Blood Freak (orange, purple, pink) on Gnarly Marly and Uncle Fester (gray) on Gnarly Marly

The dark purple/gray color is going to be part of a pair of socks. If the colors are as expected, it’ll be matched with the other UO skein on order from S&P. The bottom two will be some sort of colorwork – maybe a brioche? I’ve been eyeing Blood Freak for a while now, and finally gave in when I needed to purchase sock yarn. I mean – why pay shipping for just one skein? And I couldn’t be happier with it. I think the colors are amazing on the black and white Gnarly Marly base. Pippin seems less determined to steal these skeins, so I even get to admire them for a while on my desk. I’ll put them up before bed though – no reason to tempt him unnecessarily.

Now off to talk to the fam.
