Don’t eat these limes!

I continue to make progress on my rainbow gradient. Fiber that keeps moving through the colors certainly helps keep things going! I’ve been mixing the transition pieces by hand rather than using any sort of carding or comb to do it. I have such implements, but wouldn’t want to use carders because it would make my top into more jumbled rolags and change the nature of the yarn. A comb would be a natural way to mix it, but honestly I haven’t minded the pauses in spinning to mix the fibers – it’s its own form of meditation. I’ve also enjoyed watching the slow shift from one color to the next.

A bog oak cross arm spindle with turquoise blue and lime green fiber sits in front of an orange leather bag on the left. The same spindle is in the bag among green, yellow, brown, and blue fiber on the right.

I’m now finished with the turquoise blue and into solid lime. For whatever reason, both the cats have made a go at trying to steal (and chew) on the lime fiber today. As with shedding season we have enough challenges with hairballs, and I doubt the dye is meant for consumption, I have definitely intervened and am keeping a close eye on the fiber when I have my spindle out.
