A little about me and this blog…
I decided to start this blog after my husband and I made the big decision to go with a job offer he received for a 30 month contract in Germany. So the starting point is how moving abroad impacts my fiber crafting, and my crafting journey in general while I’m here, starting with deciding what would come with me on the move from the US to Germany.
So if you’re a poor family member who got suckered into this looking for lots of pics of old German buildings and historical places, there may be a few, but really, just check Facebook or our new blog Goose Landing. This is going to be a pretty fiber centric blog – fiber is fluffy. Building aren’t. This is all things fluffy.
I’ve been doing hand crafts, many fiber related, since I was a kid. My mom, grandma, godmother, all crafters… I grew up helping my mom crochet scrunchies for school craft fairs and “finally” (from her perspective) took up sewing in high school when I wanted a cloak and Rennaissance fair costumes. By college, I was threatening to steal the sewing machine if she didn’t buy me my own (I won).
Somewhere in highschool I also got my first drop spindle. This didn’t go very far until sometime after college, but now I own… um… more than a few? But less than many? Then with all that yarn, I picked up crochet again, then knitting.
Basically, I can’t pick just one, which is why this is all things fluffy. And even there my husband reminds me that most of my fabric isn’t really fluffy, but “All things fluffy, shiny, drapey, silky, soft, etc…” starts to get a bit long. I figure crafters are creative people and can stretch their imaginations.
